Paul;
Be advised that the revised, corrected banner is in the mail to Ms. Nancy Richards, Curator of the Bowfin Museum. Its appearance, and finish is better than I expected. well equipped with grommetts for hanging, the
accompaning letter to Nancy, expresses our feeling that a 'wrong' will be made 'right' with the removal of the 'stinkin lincoln' banner and the 587 banner being properly placed over the SSGN replica presently on display.
John Peters has gratiously agreed to do the honors! Please get the word out! I just looked at the web sites after overhaul. I say, Matey, you made a clean sweep. BZ!

Please send me a copy of the letter to Ms. Richards, and I'll get it on line.  If you don't have a digital copy just US Mail me a copy and I'll scan it.

John, please don't forget to get some pix of the presentation and the hanging banner.  We also need to get those on line.

Paul,
I
talked to Nancy (Curator) yesterday.  She's expecting the banner and overjoyed that it is finally ready.   We'll do an appropriate ceremony when I get back to Hawaii.  I'm flying to CONUS for the Dayton Hamvention, the Navy League Board Meeting and the Naval Submarine League meeting.  Back in June.

Aloha
John

Thursday July 14, 2005 John Peters:

...It has been very difficult to get everyone into the Bowfin Museum at the same time, SO, I cornered CAPT Hofwolt and Nancy (curator) took the photos with Jerry and I in various places around the HALIBUT exhibit....IF we have a Halibut reunion in Hawaii, we'll get a crowd photo.

Three cameras so with luck a few of the photos will be good...

The new banner looks GREAT and we have more dedicated to HALIBUT than to any other submarine in the museum. BIG MODEL, BANNER, PLAQUE, SMALL MODEL,  SEVERAL BOOKS.  Of course that is as it should be.

Sunday July 17, 2005 Dick Kanning:

...Nice job on the pics! Ran into an Army major who had just returned from PH and had visited the Bowfin Museum and distinctly thought the 587 display was SUPER! I ran into him at Ft. Eustis, on our way to visit the SSN-777, North Carolina. Obviously, the efforts are not in vain!
